TNC2011 closes with a view to TNC2012 in Iceland

This year’s TERENA Networking Conference (TNC) ended today, Thursday 19 May, with a picturesque invitation for attendees to visit TNC2012 in Reykjavik, Iceland, from 21-24 May 2012. Jón Ingi Einarsson of RHnet presented a short film highlighting the country’s attractions, and participants of TNC2011 received a book describing Iceland's varied landscape.

More than 500 participants attended TNC2011 in Prague, Czech Republic, participating in numerous sessions, side meetings and informal 'birds of a feather' discussions. They saw demonstrations of 4K streaming, 3D HD and DVTSplus, and of a 40-100 Gbit/s transparent alien lightpath. They had the opportunity to meet sponsoring companies and the presenters of scientific posters, as well as to enjoy memorable social events and entertainments.

The 2011 TERENA Networking Conference was hosted by the Czech national research network, CESNET. Local support was provided by GUARANT International.

Sponsorship was provided by the European Commission, Nokia Siemens Networks, Cisco Systems, Huawei Technologies, ADVA Optical Networking, Juniper Networks, RIPE NCC, Vidyo, Custom Connect, Ciena, Infinera, Comodo, Extreme Networks, Level 3 Communications, ACCESS ICT, Invea Tech, AV MEDIA, INTERCOM SYSTEMS, Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, Mashable, IDG, the Czech Technical University in Prague and CESNET.
