Fred Baker

Fred Baker, a Cisco Fellow, has been active in technology development and Internet Standardization since the 1980's. He participated in early development of IEEE 802.1d switching and IP routing. In the IETF, he has written or edited RFCs on a variety of topics, and chaired both working groups and the IETF itself. At this time, he is the IETF's Voting Member on the US NIST Smart Grid Interoperability Panel, a member of the SGIP's Architecture Committee, and co-chair of the IPv6 Operations Working Group. At Cisco, his group supports research at universities; he is looked to for research advice and mentorship both within and outside the company.
