Axel Poigné

Dr. Axel Poigné graduated as Dipl. ing. in electrical engineering at the Technische Hochschule Darmstadt and subsequently obtained a PhD in computer science at the University of Dortmund. He has more than 30 years of experience in computer science research. He has worked in many national and European projects with subjects ranging from the mathematics of programming, abstract data types, concurrency theory to language design for safety-critical systems and for embedded systems in general.
Recently, he was involved in the EU-funded preparatory phase of the "LifeWatch" project defining the IT architecture, the Reference Model, and the construction plan. The "LifeWatch" project will define and provide the IT infrastructure for the European biodiversity research community. At present, he is involved in two IST projects, "Dicode" and "p-medecine", working on the architecture and on specific data mining algorithms.
